The Most Influential Images of All Time
Pillars of Creation
NASA 1995 The pillars of creation is one of Space's many treasures, extending six-thousand five hundred light years away from Earth. This stuck with me emotionally because of the beauty of nebula blazes like these. It's beautiful constructs like the Pillars of Creation that amplify my love for outer space art. |
Piss Jesus
Andres Serrano 1987 This picture seems a bit vulgar at first due to it's title, but the Piss Jesus is a work of art. The emotional connection to this piece is all about the atmosphere. The different shades and contrasts of yellow make this piece look as if a sunset was gazing down on Christ. |
The Hand of Mrs. Wilhelm Röntgen
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen 1895 This odd looking picture is what appears to be a skeleton-like hand with a huge black entity on it's middle finger, which some depict to be a ring of some sort. This struck with me for a while because the founder of this photo happens to be the author, which is fascinating. |
A Man on the Moon
Neil Armstrong, NASA 1969 Famous Space Explorer Neil Armstrong is on the moon for the first time, as depicted by the importance of the name of this photo! The emotional connection to this is the significance of this accomplishment. A few people in this massive world have been to the moon, or who were brave enough to do so, and he was fortunate enough to visit it! |
Fetus, 18 weeks
Lennart Nilsson 1965 This photography is what appears to be the very creation of human life in an enclosed sac. What I admire about this picture is possible symbolism behind this piece, such as the black surrounding the baby. My theory is that this black space is literally SPACE, a metaphor for when a child is in development in the mother's womb, this is perhaps where God is creating life: Space. |
